Charges may be Filed in Missing Money from Jeremy Tighe Memorial Fund

Updated: February 20, 2013
The Vanderburgh County Prosecutor is still deciding if charges will be filed against the man suspected of stealing from a firefighter's memorial fund. The fund was set up to honor 18-year-old Jeremy Tighe, a McCutchanville firefighter who died in a fire truck crash. This Friday marks a year since his death. In the last few weeks, more than $4,000 was noticed missing from the scholarship fund. The money has been returned, but the sheriff's department did launch an investigation and turned over the file to the prosecutor's office.

There are several events planned this week to honor Tighe this week. A flag planting ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the crash site on N. St. Joseph Ave. On Friday, a remembrance dinner begins at 6 p.m. at Christian Fellowship Church in Evansville.
