A southern Illinois lawmaker wants to drill for gas using new technologies in the Land of Lincoln. State Rep. John Bradley of Marion is helping to develop a bill that would put new regulations on fracking in Illinois. The process uses high-pressure mixtures of water, sand, or gravel and chemicals to crack rock formations and release oil and gas. Critics want a two year moratorium, so the state can study safety issues.
