A day of skating for preschoolers at Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center. The classes went to Swonder Ice Arena, and many went ice skating for the first time. Kids who cannot skate in the traditional way will use sleds, toboggans, and boxes to slide across the ice. Staff say it's an important thing for these kids.

"We have a lot of kiddos who have trouble with new experiences in general," said Deidre Scheu of Easter Seals, "and this is something where they have to get out here in different clothes and different shoes and out in the cold and out on the ice. Some of them a lot of times are afraid of movement, so it's great to see them out here having fun doing those things that they're sometimes scared of."

And it's definitely a good day to put on some ice skates with the wintry mix across the Tri-State.
