The dispute between a Big Rivers and Century Aluminum is getting attention in Frankfort. Governor Steve Beshear sends a letter Wednesday urging the presidents of Big Rivers and its largest customer to come to a compromise that preserves jobs and keeps electric rates from sky-rocketing. Earlier this week, Representative Jim Gooch of Providence filed a bill propsing a forced merger between Big Rivers and East Kentucky Power Co-op. Big Rivers says they continue to negotiate with the Smelters.
