"The Evansville Police Department has another tool they can use," said City Council member Missy Mosby, "to help our citizens of Evansville and to help the neighborhoods. And actually, it's a tool that they'll be able to move forward and work for the crime-free multi-housing and will be able to help prevent crime in neighborhoods."
"We were able to get what we wanted for us," said Evansville Police Chief Billy Bolin, "which was just some basic information, names, a phone number, contact information. The landlords and property owners got some language change that worked for them. So, it's a win-win for everybody. Everybody leaves here happy tonight, and now we can start working together moving forward here."
The program has been adopted in cities nationwide and has a track record of reducing crime in rental properties.
