Tri-Staters in need are the biggest winners of a contest among some Evansville students. Kids at Evansville Lutheran School were challenged to gather as much food as possible to donate to the Tri-State Food Bank. The winners were some of the youngest involved: 1st graders. They gathered more than 200 cans of food to go along with the school's 580 total cans. The kids got to have fun with it too, making a pyramid out of the cans and going on a field trip.

"The biggest lesson the learned," said 1st grade teacher Miss Korte, "is giving food to folks less fortunate than themselves, and they're pretty excited to be donating this food and to get a tour of the food pantry."

The Tri-State Food Bank has its own can-building fundraiser coming up. "Canstruction" is Marth 9 and 10 at Casino Aztar.
