Updated: March 1, 2013
The Boonville Pioneers (9-14) didn't go down without a fight against the Mt. Vernon Wildcats (17-6).  Boonville held a 17-10 lead after the first quarter, but Colton Irvin and the Wildcats battled back.  Irvin led the charge defensively, logging three blocked shots on one Boonville possession.  He then grabbed a loose ball and finished with an emphatic two-handed dunk to finish the first half and give Mt. Vernon the lead 29-27.
Collin Varner led all scorers with 21 points en route to a 61-58 victory for Mt. Vernon.  The Wildcats will play Bosse (18-5) in the sectional championship game on Saturday.  That game is set to tip off at 7:00pm CST.
