Indiana Lawmakers Report Productive General Assembly

By: Michael C. Fehn
Updated: March 4, 2013
Indiana lawmakers say the intensity of this year's General Assembly can't hold a candle to last year's, but they're still getting things done.

Politicians believe it has something to do with the right to work debate not being on the agenda.  That's the debate that brought thousands of protesters to the statehouse steps over the past two years.

House Democratic leader Scott Pelath says it's a much-needed break from the bickering, while Republican heavyweights haven't seen exactly eye to eye with new GOP Governor Mike Pence.  They have worked around some polarizing issues and they call this year's session both positive and productive.

One issue still on the table, however, is Governor Pence's proposed 10-percent income tax cut.
