Several Posey County fire departments battled an early morning barn fire.

Crews were called to the ten-thousand block of Baseline Road in the northern part of the county just before 5:00 Thursday.

The homeowner spotted the flames and told his wife to call 9-1-1.  The Arnold family owns two barns and say there's nothing left of the wooden one that caught fire.

Close to ten thousand bales of hay in the barn helped the fire spread.  There were no hydrants nearby, so multiple tankers were called to be on standby.

No foul play is suspected, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

This farm where the fire occurred belongs to Eyewitness News morning teleprompter operator, Courtney Arnold.  We wish her and the family the best.
