An Indiana Senate committee says "yes" to a proposal to drug test temporary aid recipients, but not everybody is embracing the idea. The Senate Health Committee voted 9-3 in favor of the idea. Right now, Black Township in Posey County is the only township requiring people who get assistance pass a drug test. The new proposal would allow people who fail the test to continue to receive aid as long as they enroll in a rehab program. Then the aid would be cut off if they fail a subsequent test. At least one state senator calls the proposal an "embarrassment" and says law makers should not even be discussing it.
