Dozens of children from across western Kentucky celebrate one thing that ties them all together. They can't hear. We were there at Hands Alive in Owensboro. The event helps children who have hearing impairments to meet others like them and to meet adults who live without listening. There are lots of challenges and group activities to get the kids to see they can be part of a team.

"These children have adults here as role models to look up to," said Hands Alive Coordinator Heidi Givens, "because sometimes if they're the only one in their community, they may have never met an adult and don't know what they can achieve when they grow up."

The group received several donations to make today's activities possible, and leaders wanted to say "thank you."
