Another phase of the ten year 'expansion plan' at the University of Evansville is revealed today. This is what the new Townhouse Apartments will look like at Walnut and Rotherwood. We're told it will house about 150 upperclassmen and be ready to go by August.

Eyewitness News was there for the groundbreaking ceremony this morning. School representatives tell us this project is part of UE's plan for growth over the next decade. With private bedrooms, brand-new appliances, and free Wi-Fi, the students are looking forward to moving in.

"These town houses will be filled with the amenities that are state of the art, energy efficent, but beyond that, right close to campus," said Resident Students Association President Tyler Best. "Beyond that, the biggest thing for us is the state of the art, and an upgrade is very welcome. We are very excited about it."

An Indianapolis-based developer has contracted with UE for the construction, which we're told will cost around $8 million.
