A multi-county investigation into allegations of cockfighting in western Indiana leads to an arrest.

Vigo and Sullivan County officials have teamed up with the Health Department to investigate possible animal abuse.

Officials first served a search warrant for a home in Vigo County on West State Road 246.  They say they found a large amount of birds pinned in cages, and in some cases, there was more than one bird to a cage.

Authorities say they found probable cause at the Vigo County residence to search a Sullivan County residence.  They say that's where Jeffrey McMahan was arrested.  He's facing a felony charge for possession of animals for fighting contests, and a charge of felony possession of marijuana.
