Indiana Summary Man Shot And Killed By Police After Greenwood Rampage (Indianapolis) -- A man with a knife who police say nearly killed three people at a Greenwood apartment complex over the weekend, was shot and killed by officers after he came at them with a knife. Investigators say Jerry Brian Bobb tried to run over his girlfriend and her small daughter, then after the car struck the child and the woman, pinning her underneath the car in a pond, Bobb ran into the apartment belonging to the woman and little girl, started a fire then emerged with a baby while coming at police with the knife. Police ordered Bobb to drop the knife but he continued coming at them he police fired several shots that killed Bobb. Police tried to Taser the suspect first, but had to resort to deadly measures in the end. Both the woman and the little girl along with the baby, are doing better today. --- Two Persons Killed In Indianapolis Car Crash (Indianapolis) -- Two people were killed in a crash along West 38th Street near Crown Hill Cemetery over the weekend. Police say that alcohol was involved. Investigators say that the accident happened Saturday afternoon. Police say the Mustang involved was operating at a high rate of speed, between 80 and 90-miles-an-hour, that caused the other vehicle to go airborne and catch on fire after contact. The driver of the car, 40-year-old Boyce Collier, has been listed in stable condition. The victims have not yet been officially identified. --- Seventh District Candidates Gather For Q&A With Audience At Church (Indianapolis) -- The Seventh District candidates gathered Sunday at the Light of the World Christian Church to face an audience to talk about issues and answer questions. The mostly-Democratic challengers joined Republican hopefuls talking about the concerns that they hope to address if one of them is elected. Currently, Andre Carson is the Seventh District Congressman after he won in a special election earlier this year. All are facing the May 6th primary, then survivors meet for the general election to see who will be voted in as Congressman for the Seventh. --- Winning Numbers From The Hoosier Lottery Daily Four-Midday: 1-9-4-5; Daily Four-Evening: 2-9-8-2;Lucky Five-Midday: 4-5-8-19-23; Lucky Five-Evening: 3-5-22-28-33. Kentucky Summary (Paducah, KY) -- A number of western Kentucky residents are recounting their overnight experiences with the shaking earth. The U.S. Geological Survey confirms that a four-point-five aftershock occurred overnight from Fridays earthquake. The epicenter of the aftershock at almost the same location as the Friday quake near Mount Carmel, Illinois. A number of aftershocks have occurred since the Friday overnights stronger than most. No damage or injuries have been reported from the aftershock. (Berea, KY) -- A 72-year-old Madison County woman has died in a fire. The fire in a Berea home took the live of Mary Gilbert. Investigators believe an electrical short may have sparked the blaze. When firefighters arrived on the scene the fire was already established and a stairway linking the first and second floors was already burned. (Stanford, KY) -- Kentucky State Police indicate more arrests may be made in a six-year-old double murder case. Over the weekend investigators confirm making one arrest in the shooting deaths of 18-year-old Harold "Bo Upton and 20-year-old Ryan Shangraw. They were shot to death in a mobile home in Lincoln County in February 2002. State Police are not releasing the identity of the suspect in custody. (Frankfort, KY) -- Flags are flying at half-staff for a Fort Campbell soldier killed in Iraq. The governor has directed the flags be lowered in honor of 29-year-old Staff Sergeant Jason Brown of Magnolia, Texas. Brown was fatally wounded by small arms fire and grenades. The flag will fly at half-staff until sundown on the day of his funeral, and arrangements are pending. (Frankfort, KY) -- Motorcycle fatalities have doubled in the last five-years and Kentuckys fatality rate is the second highest in the nation. This week state Transportation Cabinet officials have declared a time to share the road. Theyre hoping to raise awareness among motorists and motorcyclists of the dangers and the need for awareness by motorists and safety precautions by motorcyclists. Secretary of Transportation Joe Prather says "Motorcyclists can be difficult to see, so its important that we follow the rules of the road and stay alert." (Frankfort, KY) -- Today is the voter registration deadline for the May primary. The secretary of state says county clerks office throughout Kentucky will accept voter registration cards until close of business today. A postmark of April 21st is also required for all mail-in voter registration applications. Registration cards can be found on-line at vote.ky.gov/register. Illinois Summary --- Weekend Death Toll Climbs To Eight (Chicago) -- Eight people are dead in a rash of nearly 40 shootings on Chicago streets this weekend. Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis 1/81/8 WEESE 3/83/8 says the crime numbers are way too high. But he also says this year is similar to the last two, in that the third weekend of April is violent. Weis says the warmer weather historically brings more violence, but he also says there are too many guns, gangs and drugs on the streets as is. He echoes calls for tougher gun laws and says his department is putting several new measures in place immediately to crack down on shootings. --- Six Shot, Two Killed Overnight (Chicago) -- Six more people were shot Sunday night and Monday morning in three separate incidents, bringing the total number of shooting victims this weekend alone to at least 38. Sunday night, Chicago police say someone in a passing car fired several shots at a group of people standing near the intersection of West 21st Street and South California Avenue. A 26-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and two more men were hospitalized in stable condition with gunshot wounds. Shortly after that incident, police say a man and a woman in their 30s were shot several times while they say in a car in the 13-hundred block of South Tripp Avenue. The man is in critical condition, while the woman is in fair condition. Then Monday, a 25-year-old man was shot in the chest and killed while standing in the eight-hundred block of South Karlov Avenue. --- Fifteenth And Largest Aftershock Hits Southern Illinois (Mount Carmel) -- The largest of 15 aftershocks that have rumbled southern Illinois since Fridays earthquake hit early this morning. The United States Geological Survey says the latest quake measured about a four-point-five. It struck shortly after 12:30 a.m., and was located about five miles northwest of Mount Carmel, Illinois. Thats near the epicenter of Fridays magnitude five-point-two quake. Officials with the National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky report phone calls from residents in southern Illinois, southwest Indiana and western Kentucky who were awakened by the quake. There have been no reports of damage. Officials also say the quake was felt in Tennessee and Missouri. Smaller aftershocks have shaken the area since Friday, and geologists say they could last several weeks. --- Grandfather Pulled From Lake Could Go Home Today (Chicago) -- Family members of the grandfather who jumped into Lake Michigan Friday afternoon to save his young grandson say the older man could go home today. But theres no word on when two-year-old Lazar Bojanovic will get to leave the hospital. Stanko Bojanovic was walking along the lake Friday afternoon when wind blew the two-year-olds stroller into the water. Fire officials say the 65-year-old, who could not swim, went into try and pull the child out. Dive teams rescued both. Bojanovics wife tells the "Chicago Sun-Times" her husband suffered heart trouble. She also says the toddler, who was in 42 degree water for about 15 minutes, is steadily improving. --- Cops Continue Search For Cousin Of Early April Shooting Victims (Chicago) -- Chicago police still havent been able to question the cousin of three family members shot to death execution-style at their home earlier this month. Neighbors in the 61-hundred block of South Hermitage Avenue tell the "Chicago Sun-Times" theyve seen the cousin, who was recently released from prison. They say the man is lurking in the neighborhood, asking for help, food, and clothing -- but when police are called, he disappears. Chicago police say they remain on the mans trail. Authorities found 46-year-old Allen McCullough Junior, 43-year-old Danna McCowen McCullough, and 19-year-old Allen McCullough the Third dead on April 4th. --- Teen Charged With Stabbing Two (Chicago) -- A northwest suburban teenager is charged with attempted murder and home invasion in connection with a break-in and double stabbing on Chicagos North Side. Police say 17-year-old Julius Flournoy of Des Plaines broke into an apartment in the 19-hundred block of West Winona Street around 6 a.m. Sunday. Police say he then attacked a 26-year-old male and a 30-year-old female while they were sleeping. Both were hospitalized, and the man is in critical condition. Police arrested Flournoy at the scene. He is expected to appear in bond court on Monday. --- Zion Father Held On Bail In Daughter Beating (Zion) -- A north suburban Zion man is being held on two-million-dollars bail for the beating death of his infant daughter. Police have charged 19-year-old Larnell Mace with two counts of first degree murder. Authorities say the defendant told them that he punched his four-month-old child, Jasmine, about six times because she wouldnt stop crying. Prosecutors said Mace at first denied injuring the girl and gave conflicting statements about her injuries. Police say the babys 19-year-old mother was at work at the time of the beating. Officials with the Department of Children and Family Services claim they had no prior contact with this family, but is looking into Jasmines death. --- Tinley Park Murders Among Countrys Worst (Tinley Park) -- The Lane Bryant murders in south suburban Tinley Park have been rated by "Americas Most Wanted" television show as one of the top unsolved violent crimes cases in the nation. On February 2nd, a gunman killed five women in the clothing store during a botched robbery and is now a fugitive. The victims were all shot execution style and a sixth woman survived the ordeal. Even though the investigation seems to have come to a standstill, Tinley Park Police Chief Michael OConnell told the "Southtown Star" that he still remains optimistic. He added that the 1993 Browns Chicken murders in northwest suburban Palatine were solved in nine years. --- Convicted Violent Sex Offender Faces More Harassment Charges (Lisle) -- A DuPage County Circuit Judge could let a violent sex offender facing more harassment charges free during a hearing today. Stephen Mislich spent more than 25 years in prison for two violent sex crimes before he was granted a conditional release last July. In November, the 44-year-old Chicago man was again arrested for allegedly calling and threatening a former state employee he had met while behind bars. Defense attorneys want those charges dropped because of a lack of evidence. Mislich registered as a convicted sex offender, wore a GPS tracking device, and began a voluntary chemical castration program as a condition of his initial release from prison. --- Convicted Bears Ticket Forger To Be Sentenced Today (Chicago) -- A man NFL officials describe as a "big-time" ticket counterfeiter will be sentenced on eight counts of forgery in Cook County Criminal Court today. The "Chicago Sun-Times" reports 41-year-old Royce Knight faces five years in prison for printing and selling dozens of fake tickets to a 2006 Chicago Bears game.
