Release from the Obama Campaign:
Obama Brings Campaign for Change to Evansville, New Albany
Obama to be joined by wife Michelle and music legend John Mellencamp in Evansville
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – U.S. Sen. Barack Obama will be joined by his wife Michelle and music legend John Mellencamp at a rally at Roberts Municipal Stadium tomorrow evening. On Wednesday, Obama will hold a town hall meeting in New Albany.
The events will give Hoosiers in the southern part of the state an opportunity to learn more about Obama’s plans for turning around the economy, bringing good jobs to Indiana and helping families caught in the mortgage crisis keep their homes. Obama is the only candidate in this race who refuses to take money from Washington lobbyists or PACs, and that’s why he can deliver change Hoosiers can believe in.
Over the last several weeks, Obama has been steadily building support in southern Indiana. He has picked up the endorsements of former congressman Lee Hamilton, House Majority Leader Russ Stilwell, state Sen. Bob Deig, state Reps. Dennis Avery, Trent Van Haaften and Dave Crooks, Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Stan Levco, Batesville Mayor Richard Fledderman, North Vernon Mayor Harold Campbell and Greendale Mayor Doug Hendrick.
