Obama Campaign Announces Hoosier Leadership Committee
INDIANAPOLIS – The Obama campaign today announced the Indiana Leadership Committee to lead grassroots organizing efforts for the Indiana campaign. Over the last several weeks, Obama’s Indiana campaign has been gaining momentum and support across the state. Many members of the committee have already been reaching out in their local communities, helping to organize the campaign in advance of Indiana’s May 6 primary.
"I feel Senator Obama brings integrity, a fresh perspective, good judgment, a wealth of experience and determined leadership to deal with the challenges our country faces," said Mayor Weinzapfel in his endorsement. He also added Obama has the ability to inspire us all and unite our nation, "in a way that transcends the typical partisan politics of the past, and allows us to focus on our shared hopes and dreams for the future."
The leadership committee is comprised of community leaders from across Indiana committed to spreading Obama’s message of unity and hope for our country.
“After college I went back to Chicago and worked with churches to help communities recover from plant closings,” Obama said. “I understand the importance of strong local leaders and everyday people coming together to spark the change we so desperately need. I’m proud to have the support of these Hoosiers who have agreed to join me as we work to challenge the conventional thinking and transform our country.”
