News Release: From: Obama Campaign Obama Campaign Announces Hoosier Leadership Committee INDIANAPOLIS – The Obama campaign today announced the Indiana Leadership Committee to lead grassroots organizing efforts for the Indiana campaign. Over the last several weeks, Obama’s Indiana campaign has been gaining momentum and support across the state. Many members of the committee have already been reaching out in their local communities, helping to organize the campaign in advance of Indiana’s May 6 primary. "I feel Senator Obama brings integrity, a fresh perspective, good judgment, a wealth of experience and determined leadership to deal with the challenges our country faces," said Mayor Weinzapfel in his endorsement. He also added Obama has the ability to inspire us all and unite our nation, "in a way that transcends the typical partisan politics of the past, and allows us to focus on our shared hopes and dreams for the future." The leadership committee is comprised of community leaders from across Indiana committed to spreading Obama’s message of unity and hope for our country. “After college I went back to Chicago and worked with churches to help communities recover from plant closings,” Obama said. “I understand the importance of strong local leaders and everyday people coming together to spark the change we so desperately need. I’m proud to have the support of these Hoosiers who have agreed to join me as we work to challenge the conventional thinking and transform our country.” Former Congressman Lee Hamilton Former Congressman Tim Roemer Former Congressman Andy Jacobs U.S. Congressman and Superdelegate Andre Carson Jeff Modisett - Former Attorney General and Marion County Prosecutor State House Majority Leader Russ Stilwell – Boonville State Party Vice Chair and Superdelegate Cordelia Lewis Burks UAW CAP Rep and Superdelegate Connie Thurman Former State Party Chair Kip Tew Senator Earline Rogers - Gary Senator Tim Lanane – Anderson Senator Bob Deig – Evansville Senator Lindel Hume - Princeton Senator John Broden - South Bend Representative Dennis Avery - Evansville Representative Earl Harris – East Chicago Representative Jeb Barden - Indianapolis Representative John Bartlett - Indianapolis Representative Charlie Brown - Gary Representative Mara Candelaria Reardon - Munster Representative Bill Crawford - Indianapolis Representative Dave Crooks - Washington Representative John Day - Indianapolis Representative Chet Dobis - Merrillville Representative Ryan Dvorak - South Bend Representative Dale Grubb - Covington Representative Phil Hoy - Evansville Representative Linda Lawson - Hammond Representative Scott Pelath - Michigan City Representative Matt Pierce - Bloomington Representative Greg Porter - Indianapolis Representative Scott Reske - Pendleton Representative Vernon Smith - Gary Representative Vanessa Summers - Indianapolis Representative Trent Van Haaften - Mount Vernon Karen Freeman Wilson - Former Attorney General William Smith – Decatur County Prosecutor Kenneth Faw – Fayette County Prosecutor Mel Wilhelm – Franklin County Prosecutor Robert Clamme – Jay County Prosecutor Robert Beckman – La Porte County Prosecutor Chris Gaal – Monroe County Prosecutor Jodi Uebelhack – Posey County Prosecutor Bob Springer – Sullivan County Prosecutor Nina Alexander – Vermillion County Prosecutor Stan Levco – Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Mayor David Wiant – Garrett Mayor Richard Fledderman – Batesville Mayor Ted Ellis – Bluffton Mayor Jim Fleck – Columbia City Mayor Doug Hedrick – Greendale Mayor Harold Campbell – North Vernon Mayor Mark Kruzan – Bloomington Mayor Stephen Luecke – South Bend Mayor Allan Kauffman – Goshen Mayor Chuck Oberlie – Michigan City Mayor Jerry Hawkins – Clinton Mayor Scott Biddle – Sullivan Mayor Dick Hickman – Angola Mayor Jonathon Weinzapfel – Evansville Former Mayor Mike Puro – Goshen Former Mayor Graham Richard – Fort Wayne Former Mayor John Fernandez – Bloomington Former Mayor Sonya Margerum – West Lafayette Former Majority Leader Fred Bauer - Terre Haute Former State Senator Mike Gery - West Lafayette Former State Representative Bob Kuzman -Crown Point Former Deputy Mayor of Indianapolis Melina Kennedy Community Leader Mary Downes - South Bend Community Leader Dennis Lee - Indianapolis Former Chief of Staff to Lee Hamilton Wayne Vance
