News Release: From: Buehler Foods Buehler Foods announces Letter of Intent to sell to Hoiichens Industries April 24th, 200X — Buehler Foods announced to their associates today that they have signed a Letter of Intent to sell the company to Houchens Industries, Bowling Green, KY. “With the continuing pressures in the retail marketplace, our ongoing need for growth and expansion, and the future of our 1500+ associates, a merger with Houchens Industries provides a unique opportunity for our company”. Houchens Industries, already with a significant interest in retail grocery, provides the Buehler associate team the best long term opportunity to continue to service our customers and potentially expand that base. “The associates of the company and their families will be provided long term opportunities, in a way that today’s environment has prevented Us from doing”. Buehler Foods currently operates 22 conventional retail grocery stores in Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and enjoys a prominent intact share position in several of the markets serviced. Established in 1917 in Glasgow, Kentucky, Houchens Industries, Inc.. is one of the largest 100% employee owned companies in the United States and currently operates businesses in Insurance, Manufacturing, Web Development. Retail Grocery and Convenience Stores, Quick-to-Service Restaurants, Construction, Paving, Trucking, Recycling, Tanning Supply Distribution, Optical Stores, Financial Services and Property Management. Houchens’ companies employ more than 12,000 people. The due diligence phase of the transition is currently underway, and pending its completion, the sale is expected to be completed in the relatively near future.
