Youve heard baseball players talk about butterflies in their stomachs before big games. That uneasy feeling is usually brought on by nerves. USI junior, Kevin OHair says he never gets nervous. But, *nerves* do play a factor on game day. "I love baseball. Ive been playing it my whole life." USI junior Kevin OHair never out grew the game of baseball, even though the game of life may have thrown him a bit of a curve. "I deal day to day." "I didnt even notice. I saw things." Like muscle tics or twitches, which were caused by a mild case of tourettes syndrome. "It never really kicked in until high school. Sometimes it comes on when Im stressed." "Hes had mild symptoms. He keeps the guys loose. Every now and again you hear him in the background and he catches you off guard." The condition has made it a little more difficult for OHair to let his guard down at the plate, or in the field. But its also made him a better all around player and person. "Hes able to keep at it. Play hard. He works his tail off." OHairs tourettes tale is one of optimism and perseverance. "Its a mild case. I never let it get me down." "Theres all kinds of conditions out there that people can overcome as long as they work hard theyll succeed." Sometimes success in life isnt always measured by wins and losses.
