United Way may not have met its fund raising goal last year, but members are still optimistic about future campaigns.
During a press conference Friday morning, local chapter director Carol Braden-Clarke announced this years fund raising totals.
United Way of Southern Indiana raised $5 million in 2007, but that total was down $500,000 from the year before.
The shortfall will undoubtedly hurt for some of the 33 agencies United Way serves, but no programs will be cut.
Braden-Clarke says United Way staff and volunteers are working on new strategies to adapt to the changing economy and the trends of giving in an effort to raise more funding.
