School Choir Bumped From Royals Game For "Idol" Star (Raytown, MO) -- Some Missouri parents arent the biggest fans of David Cook. Their kids, who were supposed to sing the National Anthem at next Fridays Kansas City Royals baseball game, have been ousted in favor of the hometown favorite "American Idol" standout. The choir at Southwood Elementary in Raytown has been practicing for weeks. But if Cook remains in the running for "Idol," May 9th will be declared David Cook Day. As part of the festivities, hell sing the "Star Spangled Banner" at the game. Jeni Walsh, who has children at Southwood Elementary, said her family is rooting for their hometoen boy, but they are still disappointed by the decision. Another parent, Connie Kenworthy, thinks the Royals should work out a way for the kids and Cook to sing the Anthem together. The Royals say they will have the childrens choir sing on another day. Theyre also promising a refund of the cost of the parents tickets and will allow the parents to attend the rescheduled performance free of charge.
