Part of western Kentucky may get a new road without spending millions of dollars, sort of.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is asking for permission to rename the part of Kentucky 189 that runs around Central City as U.S. 431.
431 currently runs through Central City.
Transportation officials say they want to get large trucks out of the area and they figure the easiest way to do it is to rename the highway.
The State expects to get the ok from the federal government in about a month.
