USI President Ray Hoops says hes backing the plan to extend health care benefits to same sex domestic partners as a business decision, to keep the University competitive when it comes to hiring the best possible staff. There is ample opposition to the plan, including from staff associate professor Glen Kissil, who says the university should extend benefits in all domestic situations, like people taking care of an elder parent or handicapped relative, and not just to homosexual couples.
The Saturday meeting is expected to be packed.
