At least eight families are homeless after a fire tore through an apartment complex on Evansvilles east side.
Fire fighters arrived at Arbors of Eastland apartments just after 5 am Sunday morning. It took about 45 minutes to get the blaze under control. Four apartments are completely destroyed--and many more badly damaged. Residents who lost everything, say theyre glad to see no one was hurt or killed. The Red Cross put seven of the families in hotels for the remainder of the holiday weekend. Theyll be active in helping the families find new places to live. Fire officials say the cause of the fire was electrical, yet they are still conducting an investigation.
The apartment complex is accepting donations for the families.
