An Owensboro woman reported missing from a rest home was found dead.
Police began searching for 58 year old Dorothy Gaskins early Friday in Owensboro, but Saturday her body was found near the little hurricane boat ramp just after 11 in the morning.
She was last seen outside of the Rosedale Rest Home smoking a cigarette.
According to eyewitnesses, it was a boater who found Gaskins body against a sandbar on the river.
Owensboro police officer Marian Cosgrove says though Gaskins suffered from a mental illness, she was free to come and go as she pleased.
Rest home workers didnt believe she was a danger to herself and only became concerned when she didnt sign out.
The owner of Rosedale Rest Home, Drew Hanes, told FOX 7 that he is saddened by Gaskins death.
The victim is said to have no family in the immediate area.
