Residents Clean Up After Two Tornado Touchdowns Friday Night (Indianapolis) -- Clean update continues today after tornado packing an estimated 125-mile-an-hour winds hit the northwest side. Residents will have about 30 minutes starting at noon today to re-enter their apartments to retrieve basic belongings. The National Weather Service surveyed the two-and-a-half mile path around 38th Street and Mitthoeffer Road on Saturday and determined an F2 twister hit the area. Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard toured the scene of damaged apartments and found it hard to believe. Residents at the Falcon Point Apartments were forced out of their homes just after 10:30 p.m. on Friday. No major injuries were reported. Indianapolis Power and Light say now that there are around 22-thousand customers were without power on Saturday afternoon. A complete restoration might not come until Tuesday. Powerful thunderstorms rocked the northern half of the state Friday night. Also, an F0 tornado hit part of Carroll County, but did not cause any damage.
