Some Vanderburgh County homeowners were expecting to see the benefits from Indianas property tax cap passed this year. Rental property owners like Ed Winchester are disappointed that he didnt get as low of a tax bill as he thought everyone was getting.
The General Assembly decided back in March to put a one percent cap on property taxes.
But what wasnt clear to some taxpayers was that the cap isnt effective until 2010.
Vanderburgh County Assessor Jonathan Weaver says although he cant do anything about the property tax, he can help you re-assess your property so that your property tax is more accurate.
Just a reminder, Vanderburgh Countys spring tax bills are due this Friday, June 6th.
