Big Brown Going For Triple Crown At Belmont (Elmont, NY) -- Big Brown will try to become the first horse in 30 years to win the Triple Crown at the 140th Belmont Stakes tomorrow. Affirmed was the last horse to win the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont -- all in 1978. If Big Brown and jockey Kent Desormeaux are to make history, they will do it from the inside post. Despite starting from the first post and racing with steel sutures in his left front foot due to a small crack in his hoof, the colt is still a 2-to-5 favorite. Big Browns stiffest competition is expected to come from Casino Drive. He will be ridden by Hall of Fame jockey Edgar Prado, who has upset two recent Triple Crown hopefuls. Prado also rode the popular, ill-fated Barbaro to victory in the Kentucky Derby in 2006. Casino Drive is listed at 7-to-2 for the so-called "Test of Champions." Post time is scheduled for 6:25 p.m. Eastern time. (Copyright 2008 by Newsroom Solutions) RNS-06-06-08 0330CDT
