The Indiana towns of Elnora in Daviess County and Westphalia in Knox County along the White River are nearly cut off by high flood waters. People of Elnora in north Daviess County, were asked to evacuate Monday night. Its a good thing because theres more water than land in some areas. 300 people are reportedly still in shelters. The Department of Homeland Security says their levee is holding at last check. In northeast Knox County, residents of Westphalia have either abandoned their homes or are trying to figure out how live with the high water. One woman, Linda Meek, woke up Tuesday morning to a flooded basement. In fact, the water rose 8 feet before stopping just inches from the main floor. Many homes are still without power, which makes cleaning up from the flooding that much more difficult. The National Guard is making their presence known in several tri-state counties. 532 personnel are helping out with sandbagging and command and control in Knox County, 12 are sandbagging in Daviess County, and 100 personnel are sandbagging in Dubois County.
