Flooding is causing a different kind of water problem in Lawrence County, Illinois. According to the mayor of Lawrenceville, Brian Straub, a water main broke Wednesday morning, leaving 10,000 customers without fresh drinking water. The main is under flood waters, making it difficult to find, much less fix. The city had to shut its water supply as well as water going to the communities of Bridgeport and Sumner. Officials are hauling water in from Vincennes and St. Francisville to ease the crisis, but officials have other plans as well. Mayor Straub says one of the facilities that ran out of water for a while Wednesday was the hospital in Lawrenceville. Crews hope to repair the problem Thursday. A boil advisory is currently in effect for the area.
