Spider Monkey Recaptured After Zoo Escape
(Michigan City) -- A spider monkey is back in the Michigan City Zoo after a brief escape this week.
Zoo Director Johnny Martinez tells the "Michigan City News Dispatch" that the monkey climbed out while its display was being cleaned on Wednesday.
The monkey took advantage of a drained moat to grab a garden hose and climb over a wall.
He then jumped onto the roof of a filtration plant.
Zoo workers were able to prevent the monkey from reaching nearby woods towards by pinning him in near a creek.
The animal was recaptured an hour after his break out after ending up on a speedboat at a marine next to the zoo.
It was not a danger to humans, according to Martinez.
