Smoking may soon be snuffed out statewide in Ilinois.
The Illinois Senate has given the okay to legislation banning smoking throughout the entire state.
Under the State Senates proposal, the ban would include any indoor work area.
Smokers couldnt light up in places like bars, restaurants, and bowling alleys.
Lawmakers say the measure would help protect people from secondhand smoke.
The bill now goes to the House. If it passes, it will still need the Governors approval.
