The United Mine Worker strike sparked a decision to close a tri-state mine. Wabash Coal Miners gathered with union leaders at a rally in Princeton on Thursday. Foundation coal who owns the mine near Keensburg, Illinois decided to close the mine a day after workers went on strike, affecting more than two hundred miners. Leaders of the United Mine Workers of America union were in town Thursady to show support for the miners, and say theyll support them no matter what. Representatives from both the union and foundation coal must meet to settle the mines closure and work out details of what the miners will walk away with. Both parties are talking, but a date of the meeting has not yet been set.
