The Indiana Department of Transportation has pushed back proposed changes for the interchange at the Lloyd Expressway and Burkhardt Road until 2035. Under the INDOT proposal, all access roads except one would have been permanently closed on the Lloyd from Cullen Avenue east to Cross Pointe Boulevard. Many area businesses objected to the changes, so the city and county endorsed a different proposal. However, a new plan wasnt agreed upon by the state. Even though the project has been tabled until 2035, changes could potentially happen sooner. Brad Mills, Director of the Metropolitan Planning Organization says, "Its possible it might not change. Or it may change in 10 years, or even 20 years, if it becomes a hot enough item it may be done in 5 years." Adding another aspect to all this, INDOR is planning a Highway 66 access survey within the next year, which could further impact construction along the Lloyd.
