watch video
The next time you buy alcohol at the corner store youll likely be asked to show an ID, even if you look like youre 50. Hundreds of Hoosier convenience stores will voluntarily check IDs in an attempt to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors. The Indiana Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association announced 450-gas stations will card all alcohol purchasers. The Association also supports Senate Bill-189. That would require ID checks and allow sales on Sunday Convenience stores say its about being responsible, but opponents believe its about getting in the good graces of legislators considering Sunday sales. Mike Lockard opposes the bill and hopes legislators will vote down the measure as they have similar ones in the past. It could be a while before we know the outcome of Senate Bill 189. Convenience stores will phase in the "Check All IDs" policy over the next few weeks.
