The Henderson County baseball team moved one step closer towards a return trip to the Kentucky state tournament in Lexington. The Colonels beat Apollo 5-1 in the first game of the Best-of-Three Semi-State series at Muhlenberg South High School in Greenville on Wednesday night. Henderson County junior pitcher Isaac Vaughan went the distance, striking out seven Eagles in the victory. Vaughan also contributed at the plate, hitting a solo home run to straight-away centerfield in the 2nd inning. The Colonels are now just one win away from their first state tournament appearance since 2000, when they won the title. Game two is Thursday night at 7 PM right back at Muhlenberg South High School. Game three, if necessary, is on Friday at 7 PM.
