The Vanderburgh County 4-H Fair is crowded as families enjoy rides, food and games.  Some people love the 4-H Fair so much they live there!

FOX 7 caught up with some campers who want to stay as close to the fair grounds as possible. Officials say, camping has became more popular over the past five years.  But there is a catch, if you want to camp during the 4-H Fair you must also volunteer.

David Brenner has been involved in 4-H for about 50-years-now.  He and his family started camping at the fair grounds 15-years-ago, as soon as it became an option. "We all have a common cause, we all believe in the great outdoors we all believe in fellowship and that's what the fairs about," said Brenner. He says he spends about 18 hours a day volunteering. He uses his camper to take breaks and get out of the heat. He says there's one thing that makes it all worth it. "That's to see the kid's faces. They get to come here and show their bird and win a ribbon that's it. The joy on their faces is what's driving me."

4-H Fair Officials say they've seen an increase in the number of campers over the past 5-years. "It's just handy to have because it's long hours a lot of people work until 2 a. m. It's nice to have a little piece of home with you," said Joan Mentzel the 4-H Spokesperson.  Many of the campers are 4-H participants, while others just want to be close to the festivities. But all campers must volunteer in some fashion. 4-H officials hope more people decide to join in and make the fair their home away from home.

Camping during fair week costs about $110 and this year's there's about 150 campers. Officials say there's room for more.
