The Owensboro Red Devils are the number-four team in our annual FOX 7 Top 7 high school football preseason rankings for the second-straight year. Head coach Joe Prince has done a tremendous job rebuilding the Devils tradition.
After finishing a combined 6-15 in Princes first two seasons on the sidelines, Owensboro has found better fortunes, going 15-7 the past two years. That includes a 9-2 record and a trip to the second round of the Kentucky Class 4A playoffs last season.
The Devils are making the jump up to 5A this year, but with 19 seniors leading the way, optimism is high once again. However, Prince warns his players that future success isnt built on past accomplishments.
Owensboro opens its season on Saturday, August 25th against Memorial at Rash Stadium. The game is part of the inaugural Independence Bank Border Bowl.
