Updated: September 5, 2008
The family of a murdered Philpot Kentucky woman stood face-to-face with the man charged with their mothers death. Forty-one-year old Lonney Dale Schroeder was taken into custody Thursday night... only hours after police identified Sheila Densons body. During his court appearance in Spencer County, he pleaded not guilty and requested an attorney. The family says they are surprised Schroeder is under arrest because he was good friends with their mother. They say they dont know of any connections she had in Spencer County although she did spend a lot of time in Evansville. Schroeder worked in Evansville with a trucking company. Daughter Jennifer Denson says she doesnt know how her mother and Schroeder met. She says, as far as she knows they werent romantically involved. Family says Sheila Denson had a criminal record, but she was going into rehab to change her life. One family member says he thought schroeder was someone who was motivating Denson to blossom into a new person. Now, the family is questioning their judge of character. Officials have still not released how denson died or how long shes been dead. The family is anxiously awaiting more information. In the meantime theyre making funeral arrangements.
