Monar commits to play baseball at IU

Updated: October 5, 2007
South Spencer ace Blake Monar has verbally committed to play his college baseball at Indiana University. Monar will make his choice official during next months signing period. Monar will probably pitch for the Hoosiers, but IU is also impressed with his bat. Monar was a perfect 9-0 on the mound last season with 81 strikeouts and a .069 earned run average. He also hit .516 and drove in 39 runs. Monar helped lead the Rebels to the Class 2A state baseball championship in June. He also helped pitch Rockport to the American Legion World Series title in August. Theres a strong possibility that Monar wont go to Bloomington, if hes selected high in next Junes Major League Baseball Draft.
