Mattingly confirms interest in Yankees managerial opening

Don Mattinglys agent, Ray Schulte, released this statement on Friday evening. "Today Brian Cashman reached out to Don Mattingly to express the New York Yankees interest in Don becoming a candidate for the current managerial position. Don confirmed his interest and will travel sometime mid-week to meet with Yankee ownership." FOX 7 has learned that Joe Girardi and Tony Pena have also been contacted by the Yankees and are considered possible candidates to succeed Joe Torre. Torre turned down the Yankees one year, five million dollar offer on Thursday.
