Owensboro Mayor Election

By: Sarah Lovett
Updated: October 28, 2008
They agree Owensboro City Government will make decisions in the next four years that will affect the city for the next one hundred. They disagree on who should be making those monumental decisions. Theyre mayoral candidates Ron Payne and Al Mattingly. Mattingly is the current mayor pro-tem and Payne has served as city manager. At the heart of this race is what the city should do with the Executive Inn property. Mattingly says it would be best if government stayed out of it. Payne thinnks the city and county should buy it an hold onto it indefinitely. The Owensboro mayors race is nonpartisan. All three city commissioners are up for re-election as well.
