Indianas fabulous freshman Eric Gordon was injured Monday night, but super senior D.J. White led the 15th-ranked Hoosiers to an 84-72 win over Tennessee State at Assembly Hall.
Gordon left the game with about six minutes left in the first half after he fell hard to the floor. He bruised his lower back and was taken for precautionary X-rays. Hes expected to play this Saturday against border-rival Kentucky, head coach Kelvin Sampson said.
Indiana spokesperson J.D. Campbell told ESPN.com that Gordon has a soft tissue injury between his hip and lower back. Hell continue to be evaluated.
"Hell be fine," Sampson said. "Even if he could have played, I wouldnt have brought him back in. Hes been playing a lot of minutes... Well get him back."
Gordon scored eight points before his departure. Its the first time all season that he didnt score at least 20 points. Gordon was averaging 26.6 points per game, the second-highest average in the nation.
White scored a career-high 29 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for his fourth-consecutive double-double. Mike White finished with 11 points. Jamarcus Ellis had ten and Lance Stemler nine for Indiana, which won for the 22nd-straight time at Assembly Hall.
The game was the first of five home games in-a-row for the Hoosiers, who host the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at 3 PM, Central time.
