Holiday World Withdraws From Kentucky Kingdom Deal

By: web producer
Updated: June 16, 2012
Holiday World is pulling out of a proposal to refurbish and lease the Kentucky Kingdom Amusement park in Louisville.
In a release Bluegrass Boardwalk CEO Natalie Koch gave several reasons for the withdraw.  She says leasing a park rather than owning it would take the family too far away from its current business model, but she says the many layers of governmental regulations and stipulations ultimately caused them to back out.
Earlier this month Bluegrass Boardwalk pushed back the date of a potential opening from 2013 to 2014, but Koch says her company was prepared to meet the financial obligations required to rehabilitate the park, and she says she believe it is still a worthwhile venture for someone else.
Bluegrass Boardwalk is the company Holiday World set up to run Kentucky Kingdom.
