Due to dry conditions Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke declares a local disaster emergency.  A personal firework ban starts Friday and lasts for seven days.
That means residents are not allowed to set off any fireworks on the 4th of July.
If you are caught setting off fireworks you will face a fine up to 25-hundred dollars.
This ban is only for the city, not residents in Vanderburgh County.
The firework celebration on the 4th in Evansville has not been canceled.

Good decision, its just to dry to take chance's. I hope this can be enforced and persons fined if they they break the ban. Even without the ban these things can be an nuisance, Fireworks leave a darn mess where they land and the bang might be long gone the next day ,however most of the time the bums whom set the things off don't clean up the unsightly litter left either..thats a fine too I believe. These things stress the heck out of the neighborhoods outdoor pets also which in turn doubles the noise factor involved.
