Two Tri-State communities have issued mandatory water conserve orders, two others have issued voluntary water conserve orders. The mandatory conserve orders are for the Jasper Water Department and for the Winslow Water Department. That means activities like washing cars and watering the garden are prohibited. The West Daviess Kentucky Water Department and the Pike-Gibson Water Dsitrct have issued voluntary conserve advisories. The triple digit heat combined with the drought is putting a strain on water supplies.
Officials with the Gibson-Pike Water Authority say rennovations on a 300,00 gallon water tower are complete, and now they are trying to fill it back up. But the extreme drought is making that difficult and turn into a serious situation.
Water officials hope the risk of running low on water supplies will ease up by the middle of next week.
