The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual "State of the County" address. Henderson County Judge Executive Hugh McCormick hosted the event, where officials say people can learn about challenges facing the community.

The general election is coming up later this year, and it gives county leaders the chace to talk about their visions for the future. McCormick says things are looking up.

"The county is very sound, financially," said McCormick. "We had a good report today. Our budgets have been to submitted to Frankfort and approved. Again this year for the fourth consecutive year, we've had no increase in the county taxes. That's something myself and the fiscal court are very proud of. Our jail continues to operate in the black for the seventh consecutive year. That's very rare in Kentucky."

Henderson City Mayor Steve Austin will host a state of the city meeting July 26.
