Four People Injured In White Co., Illinois Explosion

UPDATE: The White County Sheriff's Department confirms four are injured following an explosion in an oil field lease at the intersection east of Norris City, Ill. near Plainview General Baptist Church. It happened shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

White County Sheriff Doug Maier tells Eyewitness News Shane Farris, Enfield Ill., and John Sullivan, Herald Ill. were taken by medical helicopters. Brandon Hooper, Fairfield, Ill. and Jason Parr, Norris City, Ill. were taken by ambulance.

Officials say the preliminary cause for the explosion was a person welding an oil tank. The explosion caused a fire, but that fire is now extinguished.

PREVIOUS REPORT: The White County Sheriff's Department confirms to Eyewitness News there has been some type of explosion near Norris City, Ill.

Officials say there are injuries and air evacuation has been dispatched. The explosion took place near Plainview Church. There are no other details at this time.
