Door to Door Campaign Helps Spread Word About West Nile

By: Michael C. Fehn
Updated: August 17, 2012
Health officials in Vanderburgh County are canvassing parts of Evansville, trying to get word out about the West Nile Virus related death we told you about earlier this week.

The education campaign comes as news of the death continues to spread.  On Thursday, volunteers went door to door in neighborhoods on the city's east and south sides.  It's those areas, the health department says, has the highest mosquito activity.

That doesn't necessarily mean there are virus carrying mosquitoes there, it just means there appear to be more of them in those areas.

In addition to the information campaign, officials are continuing to spray insecticide in neighborhoods of concern.

Health officials are not releasing the name of the person killed by West Nile, and they will not say where in Vanderburgh County the victim lived.
