People in one Evansville neighborhood say they are being terrorized by a pig.  Neighbors and Animal Control have been trying to catch the pet pig, but haven't had any luck.  Neighbors say they want to put a stop to the damage it's leaving behind.  While neighbors are upset over the damage, the pig's owner says he just wants to find his pet which was a gift for his son.

A pet pig has reportedly been roaming this large area near Greencastle Drive in Evansville, and some neighbors believe it's damaging their property.

"It's bizarre, we've got a pig tearing up the neighborhood. One little old pig, man, against a thousand people in here," Aaron Lohden said.

Aaron Lohden says the pig has been digging in his yard and landscaping.

"Right here this morning he rooted my retaining wall really good. This is fresh," Lohden said.

He says the pig has been eating the apples that fall from his tree.  This is video Lohden took Friday morning.  He says the pig spends a lot of time in this muddy area behind the homes.  Lohden showed us 5-6 houses where he says the pig has been rooting.

"He's just wreaking havoc in here, tearing the heck out of it," Lohden said.

The owner says he bought the pig for his son, but it got out of their back yard and has been missing for a month and a half.  The owner says he's called Animal Control, pig farmers, and has used traps, but can't catch it because this little piggy's too fast.  One neighbor tells Eyewitness News, she see's the pig almost every morning in her yard.  She says it's been digging in her mulch, yard, and around her patio.  She's says the pig has doubled in size, and is concerned it will become a threat.

"They need to come out here and tranquilize him, shoot him, cage him, trap him, fence him, I don't care what they do, they need to get him. And if they would come out here when he's having breakfast, they could do that," Lohden said.

Animal Control says officers have been out here several times, but have only seen the pig one time, and were unable to catch it.  Officers have since set a trap.  While neighbors say the pig is a nuisance, the owner says he just wants to bring his pet back home.

Animal Control encourages neighbors to call them if they see the pig in the area.

My husband of 17 yrs shared this with me and while some may be irritated with the situation, Shalah Sasse provided an excellent story. One in which I laughed for the first time in many days. Thank you Shalah for such a wonderful and articulated article.
