North Posey Athletic Director Overcomes Battle off the Field

"I'm devoted to North Posey," said Ferguson. "I've had the chance to move on and probably make more money, but its not the money."
"He's North Posey all the way," said Head Football Coach Joe Gengelbach. "When we have a soccer match, or a tennis match, he's there making an appearance at all of them."
But his tenure was almost cut short.
"Back about a year ago, I started feeling sick," said Ferguson.
"Last Fall and into the Spring," said Gengelbach, "you could tell he was struggling with his health."
Ferguson's liver was failing and fast.
"I was in the ICU for Christmas Eve and Christmas and back in there in January," said Ferguson.
"We were all very concerned about him," said Gengelbach. "He's been a fixture around here for quite a while."
"I had two failures in January and February," said Ferguson. "Then on March 16, they called me and told me they had a liver for me. To tell you the truth, and I've never told anybody this, but I didn't think was gonna make it."
But he did, thanks to some encouragement from the Vikings.
"I received more than 60 cards from student athletes from North Posey," said Ferguson. "I thought, well now I have to go back to work."
And he has. 6 months later, Ferguson is back in the office and on the sidelines.
"For the kids to see someone who has gone through all that he's gone through," said Gengelbach, "It helps them understand that as long as you can work hard and have a good attitude, things will turn out positive for you."
